Fishing for all Ages and Abilities
We have the Gulf of Mexico, the Choctawhatchee Bay, West Bay, and countless streams and lakes. For a fisher, what more are you looking for? On spring and summer mornings, it is common to see families sitting on the beach with their lines in the water trying to catch a variety of fish that swim close to shore.
Red Snapper season is a favorite for locals and visitors alike as boats head offshore in search of this coveted saltwater fish. Amateur fishers can buy a license and gear and head out on their own in one of the bays on the Gulf or on charter trips with a number of guides. Pompano, Red Snapper, Mahi Mahi, Grouper, Cobia, Tuna, and many more are all found in our waters. Sandestin hosts a Blue Marlin Tournament each summer that brings in amateurs and professionals alike from across the country to compete in a variety of species.
The Destin Fishing Rodeo is a way for fishers of all ages and abilities to compete in various classes for the best catch. Did we mention that Destin is known as "The World's Luckiest Fishing Village?" Whether you are here in search of a record-breaking Blue Marlin or simply trying to impress your family or friends by catching a fish, any fish off the beach, drop a line in the water.
